Work will begin at the intersection of McGavock Pike and Elm Hill Pike starting February 20th.  McGavock Pike will be closed between Elm Hill Pike and Lakeland Drive.  Traffic will be detoured to Lakeland Drive.  Work will be ongoing 24 hours a day 7 days a week for approximately 8 weeks.

Work has begun at the Stones River near the intersection of Central Pike and Lebanon Road. One eastbound lane will be closed on Lebanon Road on the Stones River Bridge for this portion of work. All eastbound lanes will be open during the afternoon rush hour. Work will continue at the Greenway Trailhead near Kohl’s. The greenway will be closed to through traffic under Lebanon Road during construction. Access to the greenway will remain open from the Kohl’s parking lot west towards the YMCA. Pipe installation will begin in Lebanon Road on February 9th.  Work will start east of the intersection of Lebanon Road and proceed east on Lebanon Road.  Work will be ongoing 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  The new 36-inch water main will be installed in the middle turn lane down Lebanon Road from Donelson Pike to Central Pike.  Two westbound lanes will be open for morning rush hour traffic between 6AM and 9AM.  Two eastbound lanes will be open for afternoon rush hour traffic between 3PM and 6PM.

During all other times traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction.  Expect delays.  Use I-40 as an alternate route.

Crews have begun “pot holing” existing utilities along the project route to find and record the location.  Expect single lane closures during non-peak traffic hours (9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.)  “pot holing” involved digging a small hole to locate an existing utility on the new pipelines proposed alignment.  The size, elevation and depth of the utilities are recorded to ensure the new proposed water main does not conflict.  The small excavations are temporarily paved until the new pipeline is installed at which time permanent asphalt will be installed.

Pipe installation on Lebanon Road will begin the first week of February and will start on Lebanon Road East of the intersection of Lebanon Road and Donelson Pike.  Work will be ongoing 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  Traffic on Lebanon Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction with the exception of morning rush hour and evening rush hour.  During morning rush hour two westbound lanes will be open for traffic.  During evening rush hour two east bound lanes will be open for traffic.  The center turn lane will be closed inside the work zone.

Water line installation will continue in Lebanon Road between Stewarts Ferry Pike and Disspayne Drive.  Crews will continue to work 24 hours per day and 7 days per week.  Two westbound lanes (going into downtown) will be open during morning rush hour and two eastbound lanes (going out of downtown) will be open during afternoon rush hour.    During construction at the intersection of Cedarstone Way, Guill Court, Riverstone Boulevard, and Rivercrest Pass, vehicles will not be able to make a left hand turn onto Lebanon Road or a left hand turn off of Lebanon Road.  Crews will be working expeditiously to have the intersection open to traffic as soon as possible.

Crews will continue to work 24 hours per day and 7 days per week.  Two westbound lanes (going into downtown) will be open during morning rush hour, a single lane will be closed during non-rush hour times.  Two eastbound lanes (going out of downtown) will be open during afternoon rush hour, a single lane will be closed during non-rush hour times.  The center median turn arounds will be temporarily closed while the new pipeline is installed. These will be reopened as soon as the pipe installation is complete and the road is repaved.

Crews are saw cutting asphalt and relocating an existing 12-inch water line between Nodyne Drive and Lakeland Drive and relocating a gas main in Donelson Pike between Woodberry Drive and Bluefield Ave.  Expect lane closures, a single northbound lane and southbound lane will remain open during construction. 

Installation of 60-inch pipe has begun in Nodyne Drive at Donelson Pike.  Nodyne Drive is closed from Donelson Pike to Heney Drive.  Old Donelson Pike is closed from Nodyne Drive to Old Elm Hill Pike.  Use Wellman Drive as a detour.

Project Updates

Crews will be working to make a tie-in to an existing 24-inch water line at Central Pike and Lebanon Road.  This work will be outside of the roadway and will not impact traffic. 

Crews will be installing 12-inch pipes across the inbound lanes in Lebanon Road near Stewarts Ferry Pike and Donelson Pike next week.  This work will require a lane closure of one inbound lane and will be done after 9:00 a.m. to avoid morning rush hour traffic. 

McGavock Pike will remained closed at Elm Hill Pike until Mid-May. 

Crews will continue relocating a 4-inch gas main in Donelson Pike between Woodberry Drive and Bluefield Avenue.  The gas main is being relocated to make room for the new 60-inch water line. 

Crews have begun the installation of the 60-inch water line in Donelson Pike starting at Nodyne Drive and Donelson Pike.  Expect lane closures in Donelson Pike. A single northbound lane and southbound lane will remain open during construction.  Work will progress down Donelson Pike in the middle three lanes from Nodyne Drive to Lebanon Road.  Work will continue 24 hours a day 7 days a week. 

Effective 8/25/17, the south bound travel lanes and center turning lane of Donelson Pike from 120 Donelson Pike through the RR crossing to 112 Donelson Pike are closed.

Traffic flow has been shifted to the two North bound lanes with delineators splitting traffic to a single north/south bound flow.  A traffic control officer has been placed at  the north end of the RR crossing to keep southbound traffic from stopping on the RR tracks.

This will be a “moving” lane restriction and will remain in place as the contractor installs the 60" pipe north towards Lebanon Pike.  One entrance to the Fifty Forward complex will be open all times.

The duration is expected to be 3+ weeks.

NOTE...At this time, traffic cannot turn left from Bluefield on to Donelson Pike.   The contractor anticipates having the intersection opened to both right/left turns by 7: 00 AM Monday morning.

Installation of the 36-inch diameter water pipe will continue in Lebanon Road near Stewarts Ferry Pike.   Crews will continue to work 24 hours per day and 7 days per week.  Two westbound lanes (going into downtown) will be open during morning rush hour and two eastbound lanes (going out of downtown) will be open during afternoon rush hour.


During the installation of the water main through the intersection of Stewarts Ferry Pike and Lebanon Road, traffic will not be able to turn left from Stewarts Ferry Pike onto Lebanon Road.  Traffic will not be able to turn left from Munn Road onto Lebanon Road.  Traffic from Stewarts Ferry Pike can use McCambell for a detour.  Traffic from Munn Road will be required to turn right and can use Donelson Pike as a detour. Crews are working expeditiously to have the intersection opened to traffic as soon as possible. 


Work in McGavock Pike between Elm Hill Pike and Lakeland Drive will begin Monday Feb 20th.  McGavock Pike between Elm Hill Pike and Lakeland Drive will be closed.  Traffic will be detoured on Lakeland Drive and Emery Drive.  This section of work is expected to take 8 weeks to complete. 

Water line installation will continue along Lebanon Road at Jackson Downs Boulevard.  Starting Monday April 17th. Jackson Downs Boulevard will be closed at Lebanon Pike. Use Jackson Downs Drive as a detour.  The road will remain closed while the new 36-inch water line is installed. No work will take place from noon on Thursday April 13th to midnight Sunday April 16th for TDOT holiday schedule. 

Work in McGavock Pike will continue.  McGavock Pike will remain closed from Elm Hill Pike to Lakeland Drive.  Follow traffic detour at Lakeland Drive and Emery Drive.  The first phase of work installing a new 60-inch Gate Valve in Elm Hill Pike is complete, and the westbound lanes in Elm Hill Pike are back open.  McGavock Pike is anticipated to be reopened by the end of April.   

Work in Donelson Pike has begun. The 12-inch water main relocate between Nodyne Drive and Lakeland Drive is complete. Crews will continue relocating a 4-inch gas main in Donelson Pike between Woodberry Drive and Bluefield Avenue.  These utilities are being relocated to make room for the new 60-inch water line.  Crews will begin the installation of the 60-inch water line in Dolenson Pike starting at Nodyne Drive and Donelson Pike on Monday night April 17th.  Expect lane closures in Donelson Pike. A single northbound lane and southbound lane will remain open during construction.  Work will progress in Donelson Pike from Nodyne Drive toward Lebanon Road. 

Starting February 6th crews will begin relocating the existing 12-inch water main on Old Elm Hill Pike between Old Elm Hill Pike and Donelson Pike.  This portion of the project will take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to complete during which time Old Elm Hill Pike will be closed to through traffic only.  Residents and businesses will have access at all times.

Metro Water Services and Garney Construction participated in the 2016 Donelson Hermitage Chamber of Commerce 32nd Annual Christmas Parade.  The parade float include a piece of 60-inch pipe painted like a candy cane.

During the afternoon rush hour, two eastbound lanes will be open. Starting at 8:00PM Friday 8/11/17, Donelson Pike will be closed to local traffic only from Bluefield Avenue to Lebanon Road. Lebanon Road will be reduced to one eastbound lane and one westbound lane for the duration of the weekend. Traffic on Lebanon Road will not be able to turn onto Donelson Pike. Motorists will be detoured along Bluefield Avenue on the east side of Donelson Pike.  Motorists will be detoured along Stewarts Ferry to McCampbell Avenue on the west side. Traffic control officers and message boards will be utilized around the clock to assist motorists and pedestrians.

Crews have completed the 4” gas main relocation. The final capping of the old line is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23. Once done, this scope of work will be complete.

Water line installation will continue in Lebanon Road at Disspayne Drive.  Crews will continue to work 24 hours per day and 7 days per week.  Two westbound lanes (going into downtown) will be open during morning rush hour.  Two eastbound lanes (going out of downtown) will be open during afternoon rush hour.  During the next two weeks,  traffic may be restricted to a single eastbound lane (going out of downtown) when the pipeline is installed across the two eastbound lanes realigning it back to the center of the road.  Access to the YMCA will remain open during all business hours.

Crews will not be working Tuesday July 4th in Elm Hill Pike, but traffic will be remain limited to one eastbound lane and one westbound lane.

Water line installation will continue along Lebanon Road in the grass median area between Disspayne Drive and Jackson Downs Drive. Crews will continue to work 24 hours per day and 7 days per week.  Two westbound lanes (going into downtown) will be open during morning rush hour, a single lane will be closed during non-rush hour times.  Two eastbound lanes (going out of downtown) will be open during afternoon rush hour, a single lane will be closed during non-rush hour times.  The center median turn arounds will be temporarily closed while the new pipeline is installed. These will be reopened as soon as the pipe installation is complete and the road is repaved.

Work in McGavock Pike will continue.  McGavock Pike will remain closed from Elm Hill Pike to Lakeland Drive.  Follow traffic detour at Lakeland Drive and Emery Drive.  The first phase of work installing a new 60-inch Gate Valve in Elm Hill Pike is complete, and the westbound lanes in Elm Hill Pike are back open.  McGavock Pike is anticipated to be reopened by the end of April.   

Work in Donelson Pike has begun. Crews are relocating an existing 12-inch water line between Nodyne Drive and Lakeland Drive as well as a 4-inch gas main in Donelson Pike between Woodberry Drive and Bluefield Ave.  These utilities are being relocated to make room for the new 60-inch water line.  Planned temporary water outages will occur.  Affected individuals will receive notice in advance.  These short outages will take place between 10 PM and 5 AM.  Expect lane closures in Donelson Pike.  A single northbound lane and southbound lane will remain open during construction.

Water line installation will continue in Lebanon Road between Stewarts Ferry Pike and Disspayne Drive.  Crews will continue to work 24 hours per day and 7 days per week.  Two westbound lanes (going into downtown) will be open during morning rush hour and two eastbound lanes (going out of downtown) will be open during afternoon rush hour.    During construction at the intersection of Cedarstone Way, Guill Court, Riverstone Boulevard, and Rivercrest Pass vehicles will not be able to make a left hand turn onto Lebanon Road or a left hand turn off of Lebanon Road.  Crews will be working expeditiously to have the intersection open to traffic as soon as possible.  Late next week the traffic will be restricted to a single eastbound lane while the pipeline is installed across the two eastbound lanes.  The alignment of the pipeline shifts from the middle of the road to the side of the road through the intersection of Disspayne Drive due to existing utility conflicts.  Access to the YMCA will remain open during all business hours. 

Work in McGavock Pike will continue.  Crews will connect the new 60-inch pipe to the existing 60-inch pipe using a 60-inch tee and multiple 60-inch valves.   McGavock Pike will remain closed from Elm Hill Pike to Lakeland Drive.  Follow traffic detour at Lakeland Drive and Emery Drive.   As work in Mcgavock Pike progresses the westbound lanes in Elm Hill Pike will be closed for approximately one week for in installation of a new 60-inch valve.  This work in Elm Hill Pike is expected to start the week of March 6th.  A single westbound lane will be open during this phase of construction.
